Shimano – Speedmaster II Lever Drag Reels

Description

The Shimano SpeedMaster II is a true two-speed lever-drag conventional reel built to give saltwater anglers serious fish-fighting power without the price jump into Shimano’s flagship Talica family. Its rigid HAGANE Body minimizes chassis flex when the reel is heavily loaded, helping keep the gears and spool aligned so the angler’s effort goes into gaining line instead of twisting the reel. Shimano’s Cross Carbon Drag provides a broad, smooth range of lever-drag adjustment, while S A-RB shielded anti-rust bearings and Super Free Spool add the saltwater durability and freespool performance needed for dropping baits, jigging and feeding live bait away from the boat.

Every SpeedMaster II in Tackle World’s lineup is a genuine two-speed reel, giving the angler a fast high gear for retrieving rigs, clearing lines or gaining line on a moving fish and a lower gear for torque once the fight settles underneath the boat. The compact 8II and 10II run 6.2:1 high / 4.1:1 low gearing and weigh under 20 ounces, making them unusually comfortable choices for blackfish, deep fluke, sea bass and nearshore bottom fishing. The 12II and 16II step up dramatically to 40 pounds of published maximum drag and offshore-capable braid capacity, while the 20II and 25II deliver 44 pounds of drag, 2.3:1 low gearing and the line reserve needed for large tuna, canyon fishing, heavy chunking and deep-water work.

Tackle World also offers the 12, 16, 20 and 25 sizes with installed Jigging World 115 mm power handles in silver aluminum T-Bar, black aluminum T-Bar or silver EVA T-Bar configurations, with the original Shimano handle included. Those power-handle versions are especially attractive for Northeast anglers who spend long periods grinding on tuna, deep bottom fish or heavy sinker-rig presentations because the longer arm and T-Bar grip provide additional leverage and a more secure hand position. For the customer who wants a dependable two-speed lever drag that can cover everything from Long Island wreck fishing to bluefin and canyon duty, SpeedMaster II delivers one of the strongest performance-to-price combinations in Shimano’s conventional lineup.
