Description

The Avet Pro EXW 30/2 is a wide-spool, two-speed lever-drag reel built for anglers who want true big-game capacity and drag power without stepping all the way up to a traditional 50-wide platform. The EXW 30/2 carries 850 yards of 100 lb braid, weighs 49 ounces, and produces 35 pounds of drag at Strike and 40 pounds at Full. Its topless frame improves spool access and thumb control, while the wide spool gives Northeast offshore anglers enough line reserve for bluefin tuna, yellowfin, bigeye, sharks and other long-running fish.

Avet machines the reel from 6061-T6 marine-grade aluminum with stainless-steel components and uses a push-button Quick-Shift two-speed transmission. High gear is 3.8:1 with 37 inches of line pickup per crank for clearing slack and keeping pace with moving fish; low gear drops to 2.0:1 and 19 inches per crank when leverage matters late in the fight. The Dual Disc Avedrag dry-carbon system delivers strong, repeatable lever-drag pressure, backed by Avet’s dual-dog/silent dog-and-gear anti-reverse architecture, adjustable Strike preset, Strike stop, alarm clicker, offset handle arm, large ergonomic knob and stainless harness lugs.

For Port Tackle customers, the EXW 30/2 fits especially well as a compact Northeast tuna and shark reel for 80–100 lb class braid systems, chunking, live bait, trolling and stand-up or rail-assisted fighting. Compared with the narrower EX 30/2, the EXW’s main advantage is capacity: 850 yards of 100 lb braid versus the standard-width model’s lower capacity, while retaining the same 35/40 lb drag class and 3.8:1 / 2.0:1 gearing. Melton currently offers eight right-hand anodized colors plus a true left-hand Silver version, allowing the same mechanical package to fit either retrieve preference.
