The 2026 Daiwa Freams LT is built for anglers who want a reel that feels light and responsive in the hand without giving up the protection needed for real inshore fishing. Daiwa combines a rigid, lightweight ZAION V body with AIRDRIVE components at the front of the reel, reducing rotating mass so the Freams starts and stops quickly, balances well on modern graphite rods and transmits more of what is happening at the lure back to the angler. That lighter feel is especially noticeable when you are bucktailing fluke all day, twitching soft plastics for weakfish, casting metals at albies or repeatedly working plugs for striped bass. MAGSEALED protection at the main shaft adds an important durability advantage by helping keep saltwater, dust and grit out of the reel’s internal working area, giving the Freams genuine freshwater-to-inshore versatility rather than simply being a lightweight freshwater reel with saltwater aspirations.

The 2026 lineup also gives Northeast anglers a useful range of gearing and size choices. The 1000 and 2000 are excellent for freshwater and true light-tackle work; the 2500D and compact 3000D-C make natural fluke, weakfish and general bay reels; the 2500D-XH adds faster pickup for albies, bonito and active lure fishing; and the 4000D-CXH through 6000D-H provide more drag, capacity and handle authority for striped bass, bluefish, light surf and nearshore use.
