Shimano – Sienna FG Spinning Reels

Description

The Shimano Sienna FG is an affordable spinning reel that gives new anglers, occasional fishermen and anyone building a dependable backup outfit a genuine taste of Shimano’s smooth, easy-to-use performance without a big investment. Its G-Free Body moves the reel’s center of gravity closer to the rod and the angler’s hand, helping the outfit feel better balanced during a day of casting, while Shimano’s Propulsion Line Management System and AR-C spool design help line leave the reel cleanly for longer casts and fewer wind knots. Super Stopper II instant anti-reverse eliminates handle back play for a more positive hookset, and the 3+1 bearing system keeps the retrieve smooth for a reel in this price class.

For Northeast anglers, the Sienna FG makes the most sense as a freshwater-to-light-inshore reel rather than something to force into heavy saltwater duty. The 500 and 1000 sizes are excellent for trout, panfish and ultralight fishing; the 2000 and 2500HG are useful for weakfish, porgies, light fluke bucktailing and back-bay fishing; and the C3000 and 4000 provide enough capacity and drag for general fluke, sea bass, bluefish and lighter striped-bass applications. The XT-7 body keeps weight down and protects the internal gearing, while the aluminum spool adds a more durable, quality feel than the price would suggest. For a customer who wants a simple, reliable reel that casts well, is easy to fish and delivers recognizable Shimano quality at an entry-level price, the Sienna FG is a very easy recommendation.
